The airport
The airport of Genoa Sestri Ponente, named after Christopher Columbus, is only a few kilometers from the city center. It is so easily and quickly reached by car, taxi or bus (volabus line) that it can be considered as a real city airport. With many new routes added every year, Genoa Sestri (IATA code: GOA; ICAO code: LIMJ) is growing bigger, becoming and important hub for low cost and European tourism.
Close to the airport there is a toll station to get onto the A10 motorway to Genoa (that goes to the east coast) which connects to the A26 going to and from Piedmont and the A7 motorway going to and from Lombardy. A new raliway station is planned in the next years.
