The rolli
The Palazzi dei Rolli were noble houses that, during the great period of the Republic of Genoa (between 500 and 600), were considered of high standard in order to host state visits. Some of the buildings were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO in 2006. The (Rolli) were proper lists of public housing that divided the residences by category and quality.
The residential culture of the Genoese aristocracy became an architectural model outside the city limits and the peninsula. This can also be seen in illustrations by Rubens.
